October is a wonderful time in western Oregon: the last of the sweet corn is at farm stands, along with squash, tomatoes, peppers, apples and pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors. The world champion pumpkin weighed in at 1969 lbs and was grown about 15 miles from Doug’s house, in Pleasant Hill OR.
